What is Outdoor Lighting?

Outdoor lighting is the layer that carries a project beyond its walls — the luminaires that light gardens, pathways, façades and terraces after dark. Done well, it guides movement, frames the landscape and sets an atmosphere, all while standing up to weather, UV and time.

The BYIBA Outdoor Collection is built from Betaly®, a unique Italian material, and spans three families — Bollards, Wall Lighting and Pathmarkers — all made to order.

The Material

Made from Betaly®

An artisanal raw material drawn from nature — a synergy of cements, precious marbles, quartz and fluvial sands — engineered as an ultra-high performance concrete. Color runs through the entire material, every cast piece is unrepeatable, with an efflorescence that gives it a unique, living surface. Built for any outdoor environment.

Because every piece is crafted rather than molded from metal or plastic, form is free: sculptural bodies, soft edges and a natural surface that belongs in a garden as much as on a façade.

01 — Outdoor Bollards

Bollards

Freestanding luminaires that light and mark the ground plane — pathways, gardens and terraces. Each is a sculpted Betaly® body around an integrated light source, sized from low markers to tall columns.

How they work:

An LED (or E26 / GU10) source is set within the crafted body to cast soft, low-glare light — directly downward, indirectly off the form, or both. Heights and diameters vary by model, so a scheme can mix scales while keeping one family language.

02 — Pathmarkers

Pathmarkers

Low, discreet pathmarkers that define walkways and transit areas with precise, low-glare light — designed to all but disappear into the landscape by day and quietly guide by night.

How they work:

Ground-level Betaly® forms — many inspired by natural shapes like river stones and leaves — hold integrated LEDs that emit narrow, grazing or 180° light. The result marks edges, steps and routes without dazzling the eye.

03 — Wall Lighting

Wall Luminaires

Architectural wall luminaires that wash façades, entrances and outdoor rooms with light and shadow. Minimal cubic and circular geometries in Betaly®, engineered for wet, exposed positions.

How they work:

Single- or dual-emission LED fixtures throw light up, down or both ways to graze a surface or frame an opening. Warm 2200–3000K temperatures and dimming keep the mood soft, and select models pair two Betaly® finishes in one body.

What is the Outdoor Collection?

It is BYIBA’s range of exterior luminaires hand-crafted in Betaly®, organised into three families — Outdoor Bollards, Wall Lighting and Pathmarkers — for gardens, façades, pathways and terraces.

What is Betaly®?

Betaly® is a unique material developed and hand-finished in Italy. Stone-like in appearance, it is engineered for the outdoors — resistant to weather, UV and impact, and long-lasting without fading or corroding — while remaining eco-friendly and recyclable. Because it is crafted rather than molded, it allows sculptural, natural forms.

What's the difference between bollards, wall lighting and pathmarkers?

Bollards are freestanding columns that light and mark the ground plane; wall lighting mounts to façades and walls to wash surfaces and frame openings; pathmarkers are low, ground-level fixtures that guide movement along paths and steps with minimal glare.

What finishes are available?

Betaly® comes in six coordinated finishes — White, Sand, Grey, Green, Corten and Black — with custom color matching available on request. Some wall fixtures can combine two finishes in one body.

Are the fixtures weatherproof?

Yes. The collection is designed for permanent outdoor use, with weather-, UV- and impact-resistant Betaly® bodies and IP-rated electronics — many wall models are rated IP65 for wet, exposed positions.

What light sources and color temperatures are used?

Most fixtures use integrated LED sources, with E26 or GU10 options on selected models. Warm color temperatures of 2200–3000K are typical for exterior comfort, and many products are dimmable.

Can products be customized, and how do I order?
