Acoustic Lighting Project

Most spaces are designed to look right. This one was designed to feel right.

There’s a version of a well-designed space that still doesn’t quite work — and it’s more common than it should be. The proportions are good, the materials are considered, the lighting is solid. But the moment people fill the room, it gets loud in a way nothing visible explains. Echo builds. Conversations bleed into each other. The space becomes tiring without anyone being able to point at why.

This project started with that problem and worked backward from it.

THE APPROACH
 Rather than layering a separate acoustic treatment over an existing lighting plan, the two were resolved as a single decision from the start. Acoustic pendants from BYIBA collection were specified to handle both illumination and sound absorption simultaneously.
